S. Columbus captures
eighth straight victory

VINEGAR HILL - South Columbus bats continued to explode Friday night as the Stallions blasted the visiting Trask Titans 14-2 for their eighth straight win.

The game was halted after five innings by the 10-run rule.

SCHS is tied with Whiteville for first place in the Waccamaw 1A-2A Conference baseball race (both 5-0). The Stallions will travel to meet North Brunswick tonight at 7 and will take on Whiteville Tuesday night at 7 at Whiteville in a pair of key conference games.

Senior Justin Creech went 4-for-4 for South Columbus with a triple, two doubles and a single. He came just short of hitting the cycle when his second double lacked about three feet of clearing the outfield fence.

Sophomore Ethan Ward picked up the pitching victory and also hit a double. The entire Stallion batting order hit safely as Coach Willie Gore’s squad put its season record at 10-3.

Trask’s conference record slipped to 2-3. The Titans will entertain East Columbus Tuesday night at 7.
