Vikings hold off
West Bladen 12-8

DUBLIN – After battling to an 8-8 deadlock in five innings, the West Columbus Vikings pulled away from the host West Bladen Knights in the final two frames to take a 12-8 victory in a Southeastern 1A-2A Conference baseball game.

West Columbus put its conference leading record at 6-0 and upped its season record to 13-1.

Stephen Nealey picked up the pitching win in relief of John David White. Daniel Britt pitched the final two innings.

White and Britt each had three hits for Coach Ricky Young’s Vikings, who finished the evening with 15 hits. They scored in every inning but the second.

Ryan McCleney, Zack Andrews and Brett Godwin each had three hits. Devon Brown ripped a triple and Corey Duncan had a double.

West Bladen now has a 7-5 record, including a 3-3 conference record.

West Columbus will play host to South Brunswick Tuesday night at 7:30 in a non-conference game.
