WHITEVILLE Jerris Linwood Lacewell, 52, died Saturday, April 8, 2006 at Columbus Regional Healthcare.
Final rites will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 15 at Peoples Funeral Home Chapel in Whiteville by Minister Barbara DeBruce. Burial will follow in the Campground Cemetery. Peoples Funeral Home of Whiteville is handling the arrangements.
Survivors include four sisters, Fleecer Maultsby of Whiteville, Earlean Betts of Port Chester, N.Y., Ruthie DeBruce and Christine Perrin, both of Pittsburgh, Pa.; five brothers, Bobby Lacewell of Las Vegas, Nev., Abdullah Quddus (Acie Lacewell), James Lacewell, and Thurman Lacewell, all of Jersey City, N.J.; and Dewey Lacewell of Whiteville.
Viewing will be at the funeral home Friday from noon until 8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. until time for the service. There will be no viewing after the service.
BOARDMAN Elder John Junior Turner, 79, died Thursday, April 6, 2006 at Columbus Regional Healthcare.
Final rites will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 15 at Minter’s Chapel First Born Church of the Living God in Boardman with Bishop Leon Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. S&L-Goodwill Funeral Home of Whiteville is handling the arrangements.
Survivors include four sons, John Willie Turner, James McBride, Gladell Turner, and Allen McBride; three daughters, Sarah C. Turner, Joanna Turner Santes, and Layruth Ward; three brothers, James Albert Turner, Edward Turner, and Billie C. Turner; and a sister, Annie Bell Turner.
Viewing will be held from 1-7 p.m. Friday, April 14 at the funeral home.
The family will receive friends at 76 Turner Dr., Boardman.

WHITEVILLE Kenneth Merl Shaw Jr., 55, died Monday, April 10, 2006 at Columbus Regional Healthcare. He was the son of Elvera Bullard Shaw and the late Kenneth Merl Shaw Sr.
He worked with the North Carolina Department of Transportation for 26 years.
Final rites will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 13 at McKenzie Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Tim Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the Western Prong Church Cemetery. McKenzie Funeral Home of Whiteville is handling the arrangements.
Survivors include his son, Travis Shaw of Whiteville; his mother, Elvera Bullard Shaw of Whiteville; two brothers, Bobby Z. Shaw and Kenneth Zeke Shaw, both of Whiteville.
TAR HEEL Jack Lynnwood “Lynn” Singletary, 73, died Tuesday, April 11, 2006 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
Final rites will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 14 at Tar Heel Baptist Church with Dr. Mack Roberts and the Rev. Warren Hill will officiate. Burial will follow in the Tar Heel Baptist Church Cemetery. Bladen Funeral Home of Elizabethtown is handling the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Mavis Singletary; a son, Jack L. “Jackie” Singletary Jr. of Tar Heel; a daughter, Wanda Herring of Tar Heel; a brother, Ballard Singletary of Stover, Mo.; a sister, Wilma Tolar of Southern Pines; five grandchildren, and two great-grand-children.
LUMBERTON Agnes Keel Clarke, 87, formerly of Bladenboro, died Monday, April 10, 2006 at Southeastern Regional Medical Center here.
Final rites were held Wednesday, April 12 at East Laurinburg Church of God in Laurinburg. Burial followed in Hillside Memorial Park Cemetery in Laurinburg. Bladen Funeral Home of Elizabethtown handled the arrangements.
Survivors include a son, H.P. Keel Jr. of Laurinburg; three daughters, Ruth Priest of Lumberton; Irene Perkins and Billie Ann Tucker, both of Laurinburg; a brother, Charles Cooper of Charlotte; four sisters, Geneva Matthews, Marie Strickland, Ruby Jackson, and Catherine Mock, all of Charlotte; 10 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.
BLADENBORO Waylon Jennings Ellis, 26, died Tuesday, April 11, 2006 at Bladen County Hospital.
Final rites will be held at 4 p.m. Friday, April 14 at the Bladen Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverends Terry Rising and Bill Harris officiating. Burial will follow in the Gardens of Faith Cemetery in Lumberton. Bladen Funeral Home of Elizabethtown is handling the arrangements.
Survivors include his sons, Dylan Ellis and Layne Ellis, both of Anderson, S.C.; his parents, William Ellis and Sarah Ellis, both of St. Pauls; his paternal grandmother, Lois Jackson of Fayetteville; a brother, William Ellis Jr. of Arizona; and two sisters, Devonda Bridgers of Elizabethtown, and Heather Bass of Bladenboro.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, April 13 at the funeral home.

WILMINGTON John William Capps Jr., 75, died Sunday, April 9, 2006 in Cypress Point Nursing Home here.
He was born in New Hanover County, the son of the
late John W. Capps Sr. and the late Mary Elizabeth Simmons Capps. He was the widower of Annie Lou Smith Capps.
Capps was a veteran of the Korean War and served in the U.S. Army. He formerly owned and operated Capp’s Vending.
Final rites will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, April 13 at the graveside at Shiloh United Methodist Church Cemetery, Whiteville. Peacocks Funeral Home of Whiteville is handling the arrangements.
Survivors include a son, John William Capps III of Wilmington; a daughter, Cynthia Flowers of Hampstead; a stepson, Dennis Smith of Wilmington; two stepdaughters, Barbara Ann Vick of Rocky Point, and Marion Hearn of Wilmington; a brother, Bennie Capps of Topsail Beach; a sister, Mary Jane Frazier of Mississippi; 11 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
Family and friends will meet at Peacock Funeral Home, 1227 S. Madison St., Whiteville at 2 p.m. Thursday for a processional to Shiloh United Methodist Church Cemetery.
