Wolfpack blasts
Trask 18-2 for
fourth straight
conference win

ROCKY POINT – Behind a 16-hit attack that included three home runs, the Whiteville Wolfpack powered its way past the host Trask Titans 18-2 in a Waccamaw 1A-2A Conference baseball game.

The game was halted after five innings by the 10-run rule as Whiteville claimed its fifth straight win.

“This is probably the best we have hit the ball all season,” said WHS coach Brett Harwood, whose Wolfpack is 4-0 in the conference and 7-5 for the season. “All our guys did a good job at the plate for us tonight.”

The loss dropped Trask’s conference record to 2-2. The Titans scored both their runs in the first inning. Whiteville held a 5-2 lead after three innings before exploding for 13 runs over the next two innings.

In its four conference games to date, the Wolfpack has scored 37 runs.

Lloyd Enzor and Chris Harris each knocked two-run homers in the eight-run fourth inning and Robbie Penny delivered a three-run blast in the five-run fifth inning.

Junior pitcher Trey Nye survived a slow first inning to finish with a three-hitter and eight strikeouts.

Sprandon Mahoney and Scott Stephens each had three hits for the Wolfpack while Penny, Alex Hooks and Cameron White each had three hits. White had a double.

Whiteville will play host to Waccamaw Academy Tuesday night at 7 before traveling to meet North Brunswick on Friday.
