Jiggs Powers Tournament
set for April 17-19 at Legion

The 2006 Jiggs Powers Memorial Baseball Tournament will be held April 17-19 at Whiteville’s Legion Stadium.

The seven-team tournament will have three games daily.

The event will open on Monday, April 17, with East Columbus taking on North Stanly at 1 p.m. South Columbus will take the field against West Bladen at 5, and West Columbus will square off with Harrells Christian Academy at 7.

Host Whiteville will have a first-round bye and will meet the winner of the West Columbus-Harrells game on Tuesday, April 18.

The original eight-team field was cut to seven when Mitchell County called to report that it would not be able to send a team. A replacement team has not been found.
