| West Columbus tramples Mustangs
ROWLAND The West Columbus Vikings claimed their fourth straight Southeastern 1A-2A Conference baseball victory Friday with 13-0 rout of host South Robeson. The game was halted after five innings by the 10-run rule. John David White was the winning pitcher for Coach Ricky Young’s Vikings, putting his season mound record at 3-0. South Robeson, which was coming off a big conference win over West Bladen, was held to five hits. Jeff Quick was the losing pitcher. West Columbus, which improved to 11-1 for the season, collected 14 hits off Mustang pitching, including a two-run homer by Daniel Britt. Zack Andrews had two hits, including a double, and drove in two runs. White also had a double for West Columbus, which will play Tuesday at St. Pauls in a battle of conference leaders. The Vikings’ entire starting lineup came away with at least one hit each. West Columbus, which is vying for its second consecutive conference championship, scored six runs in the second inning and five in the third en route to its lop-sided win.
