Quarterback Bradley Cutrell (above photo) launches a pass from the pocket, and All-Stater Travis Leggett (bottom photo) goes high to snare a pass against a defending teammate during Tuesday morning’s West Columbus High School football practice session. Coach Vernon Brigman’s West Columbus team posted its best since 1979 last fall when it finished runnerup in the Southeastern 1A-2A Conference, advanced to the second round of the state 1AA playoffs and closed with an 8-5 record. The Vikings will go against Green-Sea Floyds, S.C., tonight at 6 in a pre-season scrimmage at GSF, and they will entertain Purnell Swett in a Saturday scrimmage at 10 a.m. The Vikings will play their season opener on Aug. 18 when they entertain the Dixon Bulldogs.
