scrimmages tonight, Saturday

The Whiteville High School boys soccer team will open a busy pre-season schedule today at 6 p.m., when it plays host to Richmond Senior.

On Saturday, Coach Mike Buckpitt’s Wolfpack will travel to Wilmington for a day-long Jamboree at Legion Stadium.

Whiteville will step into action Saturday morning at 7:45 against Hoggard and will play South Brunswick at 10:45. At 11:30, the Wolfpack will take on Chapel Hill, and a 2:30 p.m., it will tangle with the New Hanover junior varsity.

Each scrimmage will run 45 minutes in length.

At least 10 teams are expected to participate in the Jamboree event.

The Wolfpack boys soccer team posted a 5-10-4 record last season, including a 4-6-2 mark in Waccamaw/Southeastern Conference play. The 2005 WHS junior varsity had a 14-2 record and claimed the Waccamaw/Southeastern JV title.
