C.C. ‘BIG C’ FOLEY SR.

ROCK HILL, S.C. -- C.C. "Big C" Foley Sr., 69 died Sunday, July 30, 2006 at Piedmont Medical Center.

Foley was a son of the late Nathan and Jane Barber Foley and a member of the First Four Square Church. He was the former owner and operator of Foley's Grocery in Catawba, S.C.

Final rites were held Wednesday, Aug. 2 at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel with the Rev. Doyle Smith officiating. Burial followed in Forest Hills Cemetery. Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel of Rock Hill, S.C. handled the arrangements.

Survivors include his wife, Lucille Cribb Foley; a son, C.C. Foley Jr. of Rock Hill, S.C.; two daughters, Lynn Williams of Clover, S.C., and Jeannie Foley Hensley of Fort Mill, S.C.; three sisters, Magalee Britt of Chadbourn, Ida Capel of Waxhaw, and Sadie Shell of Charlotte; and four granddaughters.

RICHARD WESLEY ‘DICKIE’ DOWLESS JR.

WHITEVILLE - “Dickie” Dowless, 58, died Monday, July 31, 2006 at Columbus Regional Healthcare. Born Jan. 30, 1948 in Bladenboro he was the son of Doris Dowless and the late R.W. Dowless Sr. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church.

Final rites will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 3 at Victory Baptist Church with the Rev. Ray Stuart officiating. Interment will follow in Community Church Cemetery in Bladenboro. Bladen Funeral Home of Elizabethtown is handling the arrangements.

Survivors include his wife, Shelby Jean Dowless of the home; two daughters, Gigi Jean Talbert of Douglasville, Ga., and Tabatha Renee Darby of Greenville, S.C.; his mother, Doris Dowless of Whiteville; a brother, Jerry Allen Dowless of Herndon, Va.; a sister, Wanda Faye Batten of Clarkton; two granddaughters, Charity Talbert of Douglasville, Ga. and Brooke Darby of Greenville, S.C.; four grandsons, Jonathan Talbert, Justin Talbert and Jason Talbert of Douglasville, Ga., and Hunter Darby of Greenville, S.C.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 2 to 2:45 p.m. at Victory Baptist Church, Hwy. 701 South, Whiteville.

MYRON A. WILLIAMS

SHALLOTTE – Myron Ashley Williams, 45, died Sunday, July 30, 2006 in Brunswick Hospital, Supply. He was born in Columbus County, the son of the late Henry James Williams and Eva Lee Williams Williams.

Final rites were held Wednesday, Aug. 2 at Inman Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Donald Spivey with interment in Columbus Memorial Park, Whiteville. Inman Funeral Home of Tabor City handled the arrangements.

He is survived by his wife, Amanda Broome Williams of Shallotte; a son, Wesley Ashton Williams of Chadbourn; a stepson, Jimmy Dunham of Shallotte; and a brother, Ricky Williams of Reidsville.

 

LOUISE K. PARKER

ELIZABETHTOWN-Louise Koury Parker, 86, died Friday, July 28, 2006 at Columbus Regional Healthcare. She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Grace Koury and was preceded in death by her husband, Louis F. Parker.

Parker was a retired school teacher from the Bladen County Schools, was a very active church member and an avid supporter of Bladen Community College.

A Mass of Christian burial was held Monday, July 31 at Our Lady of The Snows Catholic Church with the Rev. James P. Byrne, OSFS officiating. Burial followed in the Elizabethtown City Cemetery. Kinlaw Funeral Home of Elizabethtown handled the arrangements.

Survivors include two sons, Dr. James T. Parker of Benson, and Charles S. Parker of Whiteville; two daughters, Mary Helen Adams of Winston-Salem, and Jane F. Davis of Elizabethtown; nine grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.

S.G. DANIELS

TABOR CITY – S.G. Daniels of the Clarendon community died Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2006 at his residence. He was the son of the late Leo and Lorene Daniels and the husband of the late Betty M. Daniels.

Final rites will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 4 at the Deliverance Prayer Temple Church in Loris, S.C. with Pastor Louvenior Dewitt officiating. Interment will follow in the Butler Cemetery in Dothan. Westside Funeral Home of Tabor City is handling the arrangements.

Survivors include two daughters, Cassandra Daniels and Sherry Brown; four sons, Samuel Daniels, Jeffrey Daniels, Leo Daniels, and Cedrick Daniels; four brothers, Ryndia Daniels, Earl Daniels, Staff Sergeant Ariel Daniels, and Nathaniel Goodson; four sisters, Evangelist Mary Long, Olivia Pierce, Evangelist Equilla Long, and Staff Sergeant Loretta Daniels.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 3 at the funeral home.

 

MAJOR GENERAL PAUL SHEPARD OLIVER JR.
Retired

MARIETTA – Major General Paul Shepard Oliver Jr. (Retired), 84, died Monday, July 31, 2006 at Southeastern Regional Medical Center, Lumberton. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Shepard and Elizabeth Sellers Oliver, and a brother, James Ritch Oliver.

Oliver was a graduate of N.C. State University, a veteran of the U.S. Army where he was awarded the Distinguished Service Medal, the Bronze Star, and the Combat Infantry Badge. He served in the 89th Infantry Division with Patton’s 3rd Army. He joined the Army Reserves in 1949 and served more than 38 years. In 1979 he was inducted into the Infantry Hall of Fame at Fort Benning, Ga.

In Marietta he served as the volunteer town clerk and financial officer, as a Methodist lay speaker for 40 years and as a Sunday school teacher at Olivet United Methodist Church since 1947. He was owner of Homestead Acres Farm, a national bicentennial farm that has been in the family since 1771.

Final rites were held Thursday, Aug. 3 at Olivet United Methodist Church. Burial followed in Marietta Cemetery. Floyd Funeral Services of Fairmont handled the arrangements.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Ashley Oliver of the home, a son, Paul Shepard Oliver III of Carolina Beach; a daughter, Linda Oliver Link of Marietta; a sister, Kathryn Oliver Floyd of Fairmont; eight grandchildren, and a great-grandson.

WILLIAM P. BOONE

ROCKY POINT – William Phillip Boone died Sunday, July 30, 2006 at Pender Memorial Hospital. He was born Nov. 4, 1925 in Hallsboro to the late Sanders and Daisy Evans Boone.

He retired in Pennsylvania from the United States Postal service. He was a mail carrier.

Final rites were held Thursday, Aug. 3 at St. Matthew Missionary Baptist Church in Rocky Point. Burial followed in the Smith Cemetery. Dunn Funeral Home of Burgaw handled the arrangements.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy S. Boone of the home; three children, William Boone Jr. of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., Steven Boone of Norco, Calif., and Denise Burnette of Trevose, Pa.; four stepchildren, Gary Moore of Philadelphia, Pa., Gregory Moore of Mahoney, Pa., Bishop Luther Moore of Wilmington, and Sonja Chisom of Philadelphia, Pa.; two sisters, Eunice Livingston and Beatrice Register, both of Hallsboro; 18 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.

 

CHARLES G. WILLIAMS

LAKE WACCAMAW -- Charles Glendell Williams, 49, died Sunday, July 30, 2006. He was a factory worker.

Final rites will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 3 at the Chapel of Union Funeral Home. The Rev. Clarence Ganus will officiate. Burial will follow in Mt. Hebron Cemetery, Hallsboro. Union Funeral Home of Whiteville is handling the arrangements.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda Williams of the home; a daughter, Brandy Woodell; three sisters, Barbara Bennett, Theresia Lennon, and Rebecca Ash; three brothers, Mark Williams, Martin Luther Williams, and Ricky Williams.

 

HERMAN L. CARROLL

BURLINGTON, N.J. – Herman Levi Carroll, 74, formerly of Council, died Saturday, July 29, 2006 in New Jersey.

Final rites will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 5 at Carver’s Creek AME Zion Church. Burial will follow in Carver’s Creek Cemetery. Smith Funeral Home of Whiteville is handling the arrangements.

Survivors include his children, Brenda Carroll, Cynthia Carroll-Miles, Herman D. Carroll, Betsy Carroll, Monica Raspberry, and Michael Raspberry; his father, George Carroll Sr. of Council; two brothers, Dorsey Carroll of Georgia, and George Carroll Jr. of Council.

 

EULA E. WILLIAMSON DILLARD

EVERGREEN & SURFSIDE BEACH, S.C. – Eula E. Williamson Dillard, 90, died peacefully in her sleep Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2006 at NHC Healthcare, Surfside Beach, S.C.

She was a homemaker and long time member of Macedonia Baptist Church, where she was the adult women’s Sunday school teacher for many years.

Final rites will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 3 at Macedonia Baptist Church, Evergreen. The Reverends Vernon Williamson and Linzie Nance will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Meares Funeral Home of Fair Bluff is handling the arrangements.

Survivors include her son, Carlton L. Williamson and his wife Emma of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; her grandchildren, Carla W. Tiller and her husband Brian of Apex, and Christon L. Williamson of Surfside Beach, S.C., and three great - grandchildren; three stepsons, George Dillard and his wife Margie of Evergreen, Robert Dillard and his wife Pat of Clayton, and Bill Dillard and his wife Sandy of Helena, Mont.; three stepdaughters, Loretta D. McCabe and her husband Bill, and Linda D. Schnitzler and her husband Donald, all of Raleigh; Edie D. Ross and her husband Wendell of Pine River, Minn.; 12 step-grandchildren, 14 step - great - grandchildren, and a step-great-great-granddaughter.

ELLENVILLE, N.Y. – Patricia Ann McCray Sabb, 53, formerly of Chadbourn died Tuesday, July 11, 2006 at Kingston City Hospital, N.Y. She was the daughter of Orbina Frink and the late David Frink.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 6 at St. Mary’s AME Church in Chadbourn with the Rev. Charles Millian officiating. D&A Funeral Service is handling the arrangements.

Survivors include her husband, David Sabb of Ellenville, N.Y.; three children, Lasina Frink of Chadbourn, Glenn Frink of Richmond, Va., and Lamont Frink of Ellenville, N.Y.; her mother, Orbina Frink of Chadbourn; a sister, Shelvia McCray Hasting of Chadbourn; four half-brothers, Douglas Junior Frink of Kinston, James Frink of Brooklyn, N.Y., Rick Frink, and Ronnie Frink; and four grandchildren.

CERRO GORDO – Pablo Munos Mondragon, 29, died Saturday, July 29, 2006 in an automobile accident.

A memorial service will be held Friday, Aug. 4 at 7:30 p.m. at Peoples Funeral Chapel by Pastor Antonio Garcia. Peoples Funeral Home of Whiteville is handling the arrangements.

Survivors include his mother, Eusevia Mondragon Perez of Mexico; two daughters, Erica Munos, Mariniel Munos, both of Whiteville; a son, Alexander Munos of Whiteville; and a brother, Isidro “Nicky” Munos of Cerro Gordo.

 

VERNON T. SCIPIO

BALTIMORE, Md. – Vernon Tyrone Scipio, 49, formerly of Chadbourn, died Sunday, July 30, 2006 at John Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore.
