County Pre-Majors
bow out of Series

THOMASVILLE, Ala. - The Columbus County All-Stars fell from contention in the 2006 Dixie Pre-Majors (ages 15-16) Baseball World Series Monday with a 6-2 loss to Bolivar, Tenn.

The North Carolina champions took a 5-4 victory over Marshall, Texas, in the Saturday’s opening round before suffering a 12-2 loss to W. Monroe, La., in Sunday’s second round.
The Columbus team, coached by T.J. Spivey, had swept Duplin County and Chapel Grove in pair of best-of-three series to gain the state championship.

The 2006 Columbus County Pre-Major All-Stars consist of Dakota Piver, Donovan Watts, Bryant Edwards, Todd Barnhill, Jonathan Cox, Scott Spivey, Justin Duncan, Pat Worley, Cory Harris, Lloyd Enzor, Timothy Brown, Aaron Lowry, Nathan Long, Truman Vereen, Josh Coleman and Matt Russell.

The Columbus County Dixie Pre-Major All-Stars have advanced to World Series play 10 times since 1991.
