| State football playoffs East Bladen to go for Eastern N.C. 1AA title It will be a clash of unbeatens Friday night when Southeastern Conference champion East Bladen travels to Duplin County to meet Super Six Conference champion James Kenan for the Eastern N.C. 1AA football championship and the right to advance to the Dec. 9 state title game in Chapel Hill. Coach Lenon Fisher’s East Bladen Eagle squad holds a 13-0 record following its 30-15 third-round victory over East Carteret last Friday at Beaufort. James Kenan is holding a 14-0 record following its 7-0 victory over Pender last Friday. The Tigers will play their fourth consecutive homefield playoff game. James Kenan High School is located on N.C. 24 between Warsaw and Kenansville. Friday’s game will begin at 7:30 p.m. The winner will take on the winner of Friday’s Thomasville-Mt. Airy Western N.C. championship game on Dec. 9 at UNC-Chapel Hill’s Kenan Stadium. Thomasville has won the last two state titles. |
