Wolfpack takes non-conference victories over East Bladen
ELIZABETHTOWN Nur Abdullah and Paige McCallum each scored 25 points for their respective Whiteville High School basketball teams as they defeated host East Bladen Tuesday night in a pair of non-conference basketball games. Abdullah paced the Wolfpack boys to a 58-54 win while McCallum led the WHS girls to a 55-52 victory in a battle of unbeaten teams. The Whiteville boys scored 22 fourth-quarter points to overtake the Eagles after trailing 23-22 at half and 39-36 after three quarters. Chris Grant had seven points for the Wolfpack, which got its second win of the season. Nine WHS players contributed to the scoring total. Mike-Mike Smith scored 24 points for East Bladen and Jeffrey Bryant had 12. The Whiteville girls pulled out their win after falling behind 14-7 in the first quarter and 26-23 at the half. The Lady Wolfpack gained the lead in third quarter when they outscored the EBHS girls 17-11. Portia Baldwin joined McCallum in double figures with 15 points. Jatoya Kemp scored 24 points a Kayla Davis followed with 15 for The Lady Eagles, who were handed their first loss of the season. East Bladen will play at Whiteville tonight in a rematch. GIRLS GAME
