Traylor in Marshall movie
Former Whiteville High School athlete Daniel Traylor (wearing No. 70, above) portrays a member of the 1971 Marshall University football team in the Warner Bros., movie production, “We Are Marshall,” that will be released nationwide on Friday. The movie, starring Matthew McConaughey, depicts the tragedy and rebuilding of the Marshall Thundering Herd football program after the team’s plane crashed, killing all aboard, on its return from a 1970 game with East Carolina. Traylor, the son of Dr. and Mrs. Henry Traylor of Whiteville, was an all-conference and all-county performer in football and track at WHS before graduating in 1999. He went on to play football for four seasons at Appalachian State University. Traylor, who played against Marshall while at Appalachian, was selected to appear in the movie at auditions in Atlanta last winter. He is currently in graduate school at Armstrong Atlantic University in Savannah, Ga. His older brother Jonathan played football at Wingate University.
