Wilcox watch

Chris Wilcox

Former Whiteville High basketball All-Stater Chris Wilcox scored 18 points and grabbed nine rebounds for the Seattle SuperSonics Wednesday before leaving the game with more than nine minutes remaining with a cut lip. The injury required stitches and Wilcox did not return to action as the Sonics fell to the Dallas Mavericks 105-93 in an NBA game at Seattle’s Key Arena. It was the sixth straight loss for the Sonics and also snapped a four-game homecourt winning streak. The Sonics played host to the Toronto Raptors on Friday and they will entertain the New Orleans Bobcats on Tuesday. Wilcox is now in his fifth season in the National Basketball Association after he was the first round draft pick of the Los Angeles Clippers in 2002. He was traded to Seattle last February and now has a three-year contract worth more than $21 million.
