Central, Hallsboro teams to meet in finals

HALLSBORO – The championship games of the 2006 Hallsboro Invitational Middle School Basketball Tournament will be held this evening with host Hallsboro and Whiteville Central squaring off in both contests.

The girls game will begin at 5:15 with the boys game slated to get underway at 6:30.

In Tuesday’s girls semi-final play, Hallsboro squeezed past Leland 25-23 and Central tripped Shallotte 32-26. In the boys semi-finals, Hallsboro pulled away from Waccamaw (Ash) 43-30 and Central turned back Williams 40-21.

GIRLS GAMES

Hallsboro 25
Leland 23

Shenita Hampton scored 11 points and Tabatha Moore had nine in the big Hallsboro win. Tyera Fisher and Ashley Robbins each scored nine for the Leland squad.

Central 32
Shallotte 26

Aubrey Evans scored a game-high 11 points to lead Central, followed by Anastasia Wilson with seven. Breann Green had eight for Shallotte.

BOYS GAMES

Hallsboro 43
Waccamaw 30

Darrius McKoy tallied 18 points and Fred Blanks added 11 to lead the Hallsboro win. Tammorris Webster scored 10 for Waccamaw

Central 40
Williams 21

Rashad Young scored 18 points to pace Central and Ethan Farmer finished with 11 for Williams.

The Central boys and Hallsboro girls are defending tournament champion.
