| Trask gains early lead in Wachovia race
Heide Trask High School holds the early lead in the 2005-06 Wachovia Trophy standings for the Waccamaw 1A-2A Conference following completion of fall sports. According to a report by the North Carolina High School Athletic Association, Trask has accumulated 25 points in the conference Wachovia standings to hold a slim lead over North Brunswick and South Brunswick, who each have 24.5 points. Trask had a second-place finish in both volleyball and boys cross country to bolster its fall sports finish. North Brunswick came away with a first place in boys cross country and a second place in football while South Brunswick gained a second place in soccer and third in girls tennis. Whiteville, which does not filed a team in cross country, completed fall sports with 21.5 points. South Columbus, which won conference titles in both football and girls tennis has 19 points, but SCHS does not field teams in soccer or cross country. East Columbus, which also does not compete in soccer or cross country has 12 points. A total for Pender, which won the conference volleyball title, was not listed. Fall sports totals for the Southeastern 1A-2A Conference, in which West Columbus High School competes, were not included in the report. |
