| Stallion girls, Titan boys take Waccamaw victories VINEGAR HILL Win or lose, the South Columbus Stallions are taking it to wire. On Friday, the Stallion boys squad saw a two-game Waccamaw Conference winning streak come to a halt with a 60-56 loss to the visiting Trask Titans. Coach Nathan Faulk’s Stallions led 30-29 at halftime and held a 41-39 edge after three quarters before the Trask squad rallied in the final quarter. South Columbus slipped to 3-2 in the conference and 6-5 for the season. Brandon Keel scored 14 points and Derrick Clay scored 10 for Trask, which was coming off back-to-back wins over conference rivals Pender and South Brunswick. Trask, which improved to 4-2, got a 23-point effort from Jamal Hicks. Montez Farrior added 12 for the Titans, who were coming off an upset loss to North Brunswick that followed a big win over Whiteville. Freshman Amanda Dowe ripped the nets for 23 points in leading the South Columbus girls to a 56-44 victory. Lisa Holden added 14 points and Web Graham had 10 for South Columbus, which put its conference record at 2-3 and season mark at 3-8. Tasha Boone notched a game-high 21 points for Trask.
