WHS girls continue
to hold No. 1 position
in state 2A rankings

Although it has played only once in the last two weeks, the Whiteville High School girls basketball team continues to hold the No. 1 ranking among state 2A teams in this weeks NCpreps.com poll.

Wolfpack, Gators set for Friday’s key conference hoops matchup

It will be a big night of high school basketball Friday at the Whiteville High School gym as host the Wolfpack will be entertaining the East Columbus Gators in key Waccamaw 1A-2A Conference boys and girls basketball games.

Fairmont boys, Red Springs girls lead Southeastern basketball races

After busting through non-conference play undefeated, the West Columbus Viking boys basketball team has found the going considerably rougher in the new Southeastern 1A-2A Conference.

Returning seniors

West Columbus High’s Daniel Britt (above) and Waccamaw Academy’s Dustin Williamson (below) head the list of returning Columbus County high school senior baseball players for the 2006 season. Britt, who helped pace the Vikings to the Waccamaw 2A Conference championship last spring, has already signed to pitch at Elon University. Williamson, a key player in Waccamaw Academy’s three straight NCISSA state 1-A championships, just returned from Tucson, Ariz., where he competed for the Southeast All-Stars in the Puma All-American Games.

Wilcox experiencing limited role in fourth season with Clippers
