NAKINA Mattie Mae Wilcox, 77, died Friday, Jan. 20, 2006 at Columbus Regional Healthcare. She was the daughter of the late Ned and Gertie McLamb Watts.
Final rites will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 25 at the Inman Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Henry McKeithan officiating. Burial will follow in the Watts Cemetery in Nakina. Inman Funeral Home Chapel of Tabor City is handling the arrangements.
Survivors include two sons, Rock Wilcox of Nakina, and Dwight Wilcox of Whiteville; two daughters, Sandra Anderson of Portsmouth, Va., Karren Timpa of Vinton, La.; a sister, Lizza Mae Smith of Tabor City; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, Jan. 24 from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

LAKE WACCAMAW Douglas Young, 52, died Friday, Jan. 20, 2006 in Columbus Regional Healthcare. He was born July 10, 1953 in Robeson County, the son of Edgar Allen Young of Lake Waccamaw and the late Ola Locklear Young.
Young formerly worked at Dupont for 13 years. He was a veteran of the United States Navy.
Final rites will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 24 at Saint James Baptist Church with the Rev. Graylen Mitchell officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Peacock Funeral Home of Whiteville is handling the arrangements.
Survivors other than his father include his stepmother, Colessie Carter Young; two sisters, Arby Williams of Anchorage, Alaska, and Judy Green of Lake Waccamaw; two brothers, Rufus S. Young and Willie Rudolph Young, both of Lake Waccamaw.
The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Tuesday, before the service at the church.

Retired from furniture industry
THOMASVILLE Sallie Mae Williams McCoy, 68, died unexpectedly Friday, Jan. 20, 2006. She was born Oct. 17, 1937 in Chadbourn, a daughter of the late James Dock Williams and Doshie McDuffey Williams.
She was employed for 36 years with Thomasville Furniture Industries before retiring. She attended Testimonial Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by a son, Lewis McCoy III.
Final rites will be held Monday, Jan. 23 at 2 p.m. in the Family Funeral Care Chapel conducted by the Rev. Carl Sutton. Interment will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park. Family Funeral Care of Thomasville is handling the arrangements.
Survivors include her husband, Lewis McCoy Jr. of the home; four sons, James Lewis McCoy of Asheboro, James David McCoy, Tim McCoy and Charles “Chuck” McCoy, all of Thomasville; three sisters, Kathleen Rogers of Chadbourn, Mary Ann Morris of Fair Bluff, Betty Turbeville of Clarkton; three brothers, J.D. Williams, Don Williams and Ronnie Williams, all of Chadbourn; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

OLD DOCK Shelby Marilyn Blackman Canady, 61, died Saturday, Jan. 21, 2006 at Columbus Regional Healthcare. She was the daughter of the late Roscoe Blackman and Shelby Crowell Long.
She was a homemaker and a member of Old Dock United Methodist Church.
Final rites will be held Tuesday, Jan. 24 at 2 p.m. at Old Dock United Methodist Church with the Rev. Carroll Fitzgerald officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. McKenzie Mortuary of Whiteville is handling the arrangements.

BEAVERDAM Floyd Cartrette, 78, died Saturday, Jan. 21, 2006 in Loris Hospital. He was the son of the late William Albert Cartrette and Effie Register Cartrette.
Cartrette retired from the City of Whiteville working in the maintenance department.

CHADBOURN Marie Macon Brown, 88, died Saturday, Jan. 21, 2006 at Heritage Home of Florence, S.C. She was the daughter of the late William and Mary Britt Macon and the widow of W. Wilson Brown.
