| Trask boys outduel Pack ROCKY POINT The Trask High boys basketball team found a big cure for its five-game losing streak Friday a huge 81-70 home conference victory over the Whiteville Wolfpack. In the girls game, the Lady Wolfpack rolled to a 90-24 victory with 12 players contributing to the WHS scoring total. The Titan boys squad dominated the first half, holding a 44-30 halftime lead and kept things in hand during the second half of their victory in the first-ever basketball game between the two schools. The Trask effort offset a 29-point performance by Whiteville’s Marcel Williams. Williams knocked in a school record eight 3-point goals for the Wolfpack, who saw its Waccamaw 1A-2A Conference record slip to 2-2 and season record to 6-6. Nur Abdullah scored 14 points and Akebulon Reeves had 13. All five Pender starters scored in double figures as Jamel Hicks led the way with 20 points and Eddie Boney was right behind with 19. Montez Farrior had 14. Michael Nixon had 13 and Jamerian Myles had 11. The Whiteville girls, the top-ranked 2A team in the state, took a 38-3 first-quarter lead and 42-11 halftime advantage. Shannon McCallum and Paige McCallum tossed in 16 and 15 points respectively for Coach Keith Jordan’s Lady Wolfpack, who climbed to 12-0 for the season and 4-0 in the conference.
