A productive Whiteville batting lineup helped Post 137 gain a 1-0 lead on Scotland County Post 50 Friday night.
Post 137 amassed six runs in the first three innings of play.
Jordan McPherson singled in Marquis Smith to kick things off in the first inning. McPherson later scored on an error.
Scotland immediately answered with an RBI single and a two-run home run in the bottom of the inning.
From there, Whiteville scored six more runs before Scotland could add another run to their tally. Charlie Gore’s RBI single in the third drove in three runs, and John David White had a two-run sixth-inning double.
Dustin Proctor hit a solo home run in the ninth inning.
