DYB Supplemental Tourney results

The Dixie Youth District 2 Supplemental Tournament was held over the past several days at the Clarkton DYB Complex.
Results from the tournament follow:

Nakina 10, Whiteville 9

Despite a huge third inning by the Whiteville Minor League Supplemental All-Stars, the kids from Nakina hung on to pull out a 10-9 win Saturday night, July 8, in the opening game of the Dixie Youth Baseball District 2 tournament being played in Clarkton.

Columbus Co. 9, Bladen Co. 8

The Columbus County and the Bladen County Minor League All-Stars stayed neck-and-neck in the second game of the DYB District 2 Minor League Supplemental Tournament Saturday night at the Clarkton DYB Complex. Columbus County pulled out a 9-8 win.

Whiteville 15, Bladen County 9

Whiteville’s Minor League Supplemental All-Stars stayed alive and eliminated Bladen County Sunday night in tournament play Sunday night. Both teams went into the game with one loss in the double-elimination tournament.
With the loss, Bladen County was eliminated from the tournament.

Columbus Co. 8, Nakina 5

Columbus County became the only undefeated team in the District 2 Minor League Supplemental Tournament when it beat Nakina, 8-5, Sunday night in the 7 p.m. game.

After five complete innings, Columbus County had pulled out to a 8-5 lead. When Nakina couldn’t score in the top of the sixth, that ended the game and sealed the victory for Columbus County.

With the win, Columbus County got the bye and moved into the championship game.

Nakina 9, Whiteville 8

The Nakina Minor League Supplemental All-Stars hung on to pull out a hard-fought victory over the Whiteville All-Stars Monday night in the Dixie Youth Baseball District 2 Tournament being played at the Clarkton DYB Complex.

With the win, Nakina eliminated Whiteville from the tournament and advanced to the championship game Tuesday night against Columbus County.

Columbus Co. 10, Nakina 4

The Columbus County All-Stars won the Dixie Youth Baseball District 2 Minor League Supplemental Tournament Tuesday night with a 10-4 win over Nakina.

Columbus County also won the coveted Sportsmanship Trophy for the tournament. Four teams—Columbus County, Nakina, Whiteville, and Bladen County -- participated in the double elimination tournament.

In Tuesday night’s game, Columbus County took the early lead, but Nakina came from behind in the fifth inning to go ahead by one run. However, in the bottom of the fifth, Columbus struck hard and scored seven runs to claim the win.

The fifth-inning effort was lead by Auldon Reaves, E.J. Jenkins, Tucker Elliott and Ozzy Johnson.

Columbus County took the 10-4 victory and claimed the title of tournament champions.

Nakina had three hits in the contest. Shack Jordan had a double and Kenna Shirley and Tanner Hyatt both had singles.

Columbus County had five hits. Tucker Elliott went 2-for-3, and E.J. Jenkins, Ozzy Johnson and Auldon Reaves each had a single.
