CLARKTON Roscoe “Jo-Jo” Baldwin, 53, formerly of Whiteville, died Monday, July 10, 2006 at Bladen County Hospital.
Final rites were held Saturday, July 15, at Peoples Funeral Chapel in Whiteville. Burial followed in the Flag Patch Cemetery in Loris, S.C. Peoples Funeral Home of Whiteville handled the arrangements.

NAKINA Howard Crowell Gore, 73, died Thursday, July 13, 2006 at Columbus Regional Healthcare. He was born in Columbus County, the son of the late Robert Luther Hall Gore and Nettie Bassie Gore Gore. He was a farmer and a tobacconist. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Ed Gore and two sisters, Ola Leigh Cox and Betty Jo Long.
Final rites were held Sunday, July 16 at Bethesda United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Steve Nobles with interment following in the Bethesda Cemetery. Inman Funeral Home of Tabor City handled the arrangements.
He is survived by his wife, Vivian Fowler Gore of the home; a brother, Wilbur Guy Gore of Nakina; four sisters, Clovis Long, Agnes Stocks, Jenette Long and Nell Stocks, all of Nakina.
Pallbearers were Barry Cribb, Gerald Fowler, Edwin Stocks, Jeff Long, Arnold Long and Butch Stocks.
NAKINA Barbara Ellen Jacobs, 64, died Friday, July 14, 2006 in Loris Healthcare. She was the daughter of Clara Mae Ikner Fipps and the late Theodore Warren Fipps.
Final rites will be held Monday, July 17, at 2 p.m. at Inman Chapel with the Reverends Henry McKeithan, Ray Best, and Jackie Strickland officiating. Interment will be in Myrtle Green Cemetery in Tabor City. Inman Funeral Home of Tabor City is handling the arrangements.
Survivors include her husband, Marvis Jacobs of the home; a daughter, Nancy Darlene Jacobs, Nakina; her mother, Clara Mae Fipps, Clarendon; a brother, Arthur Duncan Jr., Clarendon; two sisters, Betty Weidlaw of Southern Pines and Connie Winternitz, Varina, Va.; three grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
NAKINA Mae Bell Williams Sellers, 84, died Friday, July 14, 2006 at her home. She is the daughter of the late Dempsey Ardell Ward and Ellen Eliza Ward.
Final rites will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 18 at Inman Funeral Home Chapel in Tabor City with interment to follow in the Ward Cemetery in Nakina. Inman Funeral Home of Tabor City is handling the arrangements.
Survivors include a daughter, Ruthene Stout of Nakina, and a son, David Williams of Myrtle Beach, S.C; 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grand-children.
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. James Charles Thompson, 83, formerly of Evergreen, died Saturday, July 15, 2006 at University of Pennsylvania Hospital.

WILLIAMSON
Veteran, cattle farmer, and retired owner/operator of a long distance trucking company
Vance “Peg” Williamson, the son of the late J. Vance and Mattie Williamson, was born Oct. 26, 1927 in Columbus County. On Friday, July 14, 2006 in the peace and quiet of his home, God called his soul to eternal rest.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Elizabeth Ward Williamson on April 27, 1999. He was also predeceased by a daughter, Patricia Williamson Holmes and a son, Ronald Joseph Williams.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy. He was a cattle farmer and a retired owner/operator of a long distance trucking company.
Final rites were conducted Sunday, July 16 at Macedonia Baptist Church with the Reverends Vernon Williamson and Linzy Nance officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery with military honors. Worthington Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
He leaves to cherish his memory two daughters, Peggy Sellers McGill and her husband, Michael and Lisa W. Benton and her husband, Danny; two sons, Michael Vance Williamson and Randy Williamson and his wife, Myra; grandchildren, Michael V. Williamson Jr., Gary Wayne Williamson, Jennifer W. Hill, Angela Williamson, Michelle W. Richardson, Jarrett Brandon Bartley, Jessica N. Bartley, Heath S. Sellers, Kevin G. Williamson and Nicholas B. Williamson; and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Willard Harris, Mike Sellers, Pete Williamson, Walt Williamson, Wallace Williamson, and Henry Lee Young. Honorary pallbearers were Milton Hardin, Ray Harris and Billy Nobles.
DELCO Margaret Aileen Bowen Caines, 87, died Wednesday, July 12, 2006 at Premier Living in Lake Waccamaw. She was the daughter of the late Emory Allen Bowen and Kate Ammons Bowen and was preceded in death by her husband, Burris Franklin Caines.
She was a lifelong member of Cheerful Hope Baptist Church.
Final rites were held Saturday, July 15 at Cheerful Hope Baptist Church with the Rev. Elmore Strickland officiating with burial following in the Caines Family Cemetery. McKenzie Mortuary of Whiteville handled the arrangements.
Survivors include a daughter, Judy Caines Batchelder of Lake Waccamaw; a son, Phillip F. Caines of Lake Waccamaw; a sister, Eula B. Splinter of Jacksonville; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
