State champs bound for Texas
The East Columbus All-Stars won the 2006 North Carolina Dixie Angels (ages 9-10) Softball Tournament last week at Vale and will compete in the 2006 Dixie Angels World Series scheduled to open Friday at Sulphur Springs, Texas. The North Carolina champions will meet the Tennessee champions in Saturday’s opening-round play at 5 p.m. (CDT). The team will depart early Thursday morning and will arrive in Sulphur Springs on Friday in time for the World Series opening ceremonies that evening. Through district and state tournament play, the East Columbus squad has posted a perfect 10-0 record.
