For the second straight year, the East Columbus High School football team will compete in the Short Stop Football Jamboree, which is set for Thursday, Aug. 10 at Fayeteville’s Pine Forest High School.

East Columbus will scrimmage Cape Fear High School, beginning at 7:30 p.m., at the Pine Forest field Coach Travis Conner’s Gators will be out to improve on last year’s 0-11 record and its 1-9 mark of the 2004 season.

The event, which will have two half-field scrimmages simultaneously being run at the Pine Forest High School field, will have the 10 Cumberland County high school teams going against teams from outside the county.

The schedule follows:

4:30 p.m. – Cheerleader showcase

6 – Grays Creek vs. Hoke; Pine Forest vs. Western Harnett

6:45 – Westover vs. Fairmont; Terry Sanford vs. St. Pauls

7:30 – Cape Fear vs. East Columbus; E.E. Smith vs. Goldsboro

8:15 – South View vs. Lee County; Jack Britt vs. Triton

9 – Douglas Byrd vs. Red Springs; Seventy-First vs. Lumberton
