Three now in
schools’ contest

As expected, incumbent Dale Ward has filed to retain his District 4 seat on the Columbus County Schools Board of Education.

No one filing so far for the three available seats faces opposition.

Incumbent Bill Johnson filed last week for the District 2 seat and newcomer Mike Waddell filed for the District 3 seat, which is being vacated by Ricky Bullard.

Bullard won the Democratic primary in May for the District 6 County Commission seat being vacated by Kip Godwin.

Filing for the county school board ends Aug. 7.
Filing for the Whiteville City Schools Board of Education opens Monday, July 10, and ends Aug. 14.

Terms expiring this year belong to District 1 board members Carlton Prince, at-large board member and Chairman LaDeen Powell, and District 2 board member Dave Flowers.
The filing fee for the county and city board seats is $61. (Fuller Royal)
