| Carolina Respiratory, BB&T Phone 24 to meet for Minor League tourney title
BRegular-season co-champions BB&T Phone 24 and Whiteville Chiropractic will battle for the Whiteville Dixie Youth Baseball Minor League Tournament championship tonight at 6 on Harritan Field at Optimist Park. Whiteville Chiropractic, last year’s tournament champion, advanced to the championship round Friday by pulling out a 4-3 semi-final victory over CarQuest, and BB&T Phone outlasted Cokley Insurance 10-8 in the other semi-final. Carolina Respiratory 4 CarQuest 3 Austin Reaves had two hits and winning pitcher Grant Robinson and Shane Snyder had one hit apiece for Carolina Respiratory. Turner Brown had two hits for CarQuest while Zack Archie, Ryan Dudney and Byron Leggett each had one hit. BB&T (Phone 24) 10 Cokley Insurance 8 BB&T Phone 24, which rallied from an 8-4 deficit, got two hits each by C.J. Hammonds, Grayson Ward and Aaron Buffkin. Buffkin and Justin Davis had doubles. Nick Ciamillo and Jacob Smith also had hits. Zachary Pait was the winning pitcher. Nathan Powell, Taylor Smith, Seth Martin and Trey Harris had hits for Cokley. An award ceremony will follow tonight’s game and league all-star teams will be announced. |
