Credentials meetings for upcoming District 2 Dixie Youth Baseball tournaments have been set for each of the next two Tuesday nights.

The credentials meeting for the District 2 AAA (ages 10-under) and AA (minor league) tournaments will be held Tuesday, June 20, at 7 p.m., at Edgewood Elementary School in Whiteville. Both tournaments will be begin July 8 at Bladenboro. There will be eight teams in each bracket of the double-elimination tournaments.

The credentials meetings for the District 2 major (12-under) and supplemental tournaments (11-under) as well as the state tournament of the new “O-Zone” division will be held Tuesday, June 27, at 7 p.m., at Edgewood. There will be four teams each in the District 2 major league and supplemental tournaments and three teams in the “O-Zone” state tournament. All three will open play on July 15. The major league and supplemental tournaments will be held at Nakina and the “O-Zone” tournament will be held at Riegelwood.

The “O-Zone” division utilizes 70-foot bases instead of the regulation 60-foot bases with base-running and pitching rules of conventional baseball. Riegelwood, Chadbourn and South Columbus are the only leagues in North Carolina competing in the “O-Zone” division this season.

This year’s state AAA tournament will be held at Clinton, beginning July 22 and the state major-league tournament will be held at Red Springs, beginning July 29.
