| Chris Wilcox hoops camp scheduled for June 26-30 Chris Wilcox, who recently completed his fourth season in the National Basketball Association, will again hold the Chris Wilcox Youth Basketball Camp in Whiteville with dates set for June 26-30. The former Whiteville High All-Stater, who went on to help lead the University of Maryland to the 2002 NCAA championship, will conduct the clinic at the Whiteville High School gym and the Whiteville Recreation Center. The camp is open to boys and girls of ages 8 through 18 and each daily session will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Registration fee is $50. Registration forms can be obtained at Whiteville High School and the Whiteville Recreation Department. Glenn McKoy, who recently retired as WHS boys basketball coach after 27 seasons, will again be the camp’s chief director. On Saturday, July 31, the Chris Wilcox 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament will be held for youth and adult teams. Entry fee will be $100 per adult team and $50 per high school and youth team. The 6-foot-10 Wilcox was the first-round draft pick of the Los Angeles Clippers in the 2002 NBA draft. This past season, he was traded to the Seattle SuperSonics and finished with his best season to date. |
