Post 137 falls to Scotland
in Area 2-West road game;
to entertain Hamlet tonight

LAURINBURG – Whiteville Post 137 was held to two hits through the first seven innings Friday night in an 8-4 Area 2-West American Legion baseball loss to host Scotland County Post 50

The loss dropped Whiteville’s league record to 2-5 and season mark to 5-8.

Whiteville will play host to Hamlet Post 49 tonight at 7 p.m., in an Area 2-West match-up at Legion Stadium.

A solo home run by catcher Dustin Proctor was the only Whiteville run until the eighth inning. Coach Brett Harwood’s Post 137 squad brought home three runs in the seventh behind a pinch-hit double by Quan Gaddy.

Dustin Williamson was the losing pitcher. Jeremy King and Robbie Penny pitched in relief.

Scotland County, which is composed of players from Scotland County High Schools’ state 4A champion team, was led by Norton, who had two doubles. Oxendine was the winning pitcher.
