BLADENBORO Cameron Scott Pait, 4, died Thursday, June 1, 2006 at his home.
Final rites were held Sunday, June 4, at Bladen Funeral Home Chapel in Elizabethtown with the Rev. Cameron McGill officiating. Burial followed in the New Pait Cemetery in Bladenboro. Bladen Funeral Home of Elizabethtown handled the arrangements.
He survived by his father, Scott Pait and mother, Renee Pait; twin sisters, Courtney Pait and Cattlyn Pait; paternal grandparents, Freddie Pait Sr. and Addie Pait; maternal grandparents, Tony Thompson and his wife, Mary. He was preceded in death by grandmother, Dorothy Thompson.

TABOR CITY Iris Barefoot Baker, 79, died June 2, 2006 at Loris Community Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Henry Person Barefoot and Myrtle Thompson Barefoot. She was a school teacher.
Final rites were held Monday, June 5 at Tabor City Baptist Church. Burial followed in Flynn Cemetery in Whiteville. Inman Funeral Home of Tabor City handled the arrangements.
She is survived by her husband, Bryant H. Baker of Tabor City, two daughters, Jeannette Bledsoe of Hartsville, S.C., and Penny Baker Turner of High Point; a brother, Joe Blake Barefoot of Hallsboro, and three grandchildren.

CHADBOURN William “Bill” Franklin Page Sr., 75, died Saturday, June 3, 2006. He was born April 10, 1931 in Columbus County, the son of the late William Oscar and Bessie Smith Page.
Page was regional manager with Southern Life Insurance
Company for 31 years. He was a staff sergeant and veteran in the U.S. Air Force. After retirement, he worked with Pinewood Manor.
Graveside services with military honors will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 6 at Chadbourn Memorial Cemetery by the Rev. Clark Whittington. Peacocks Chapel In The Pines is handling the arrangements.
He is survived by three daughters, Deborah Page Blackwell, Kim Page Solomon and Leslie Carol Page, all of Whiteville; two sons, William F. Page Jr. of Whiteville and Mark Robert Page of Clarkton; three sisters, Edith Powers of Matthews, Rachel Atkins of Stuart, Fla., and Christine Soesbee of Asheville; a brother, Jimmy Page of Mooresville; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and a friend and companion, Frances Taylor of Chadbourn. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lela “Pete” Page, and a brother, Robert Page.

LAKE WACCAMAW Cameron Lee Parker, 47, died Thursday, June 1, 2006 at the Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton after a lengthy illness. He was the son of Anne Powell Parker and the late James R. Parker Sr.
Parker was born on March 22, 1958 in Marion, S.C. He attended
Waccamaw Academy where he excelled in sports and was a U.S. Navy Veteran. He was also a member of the Lake Waccamaw Presbyterian Church.
A private memorial service was held at the Lake Waccamaw Presbyterian Church on Sunday, June 4 that was officiated by Dr. David Walker. McKenzie Mortuary of Whiteville handled the arrangements.
Survivors include his mother, Anne Powell Parker of Lake Waccamaw, two brothers, James R. Parker Jr., and Clyde C. Parker.

CRUSOE Dowal Gray “Bokie” Etheridge, 62, died Saturday, June 3, 2006. He was born Oct. 10, 1943 in Columbus County, the son of the late Joseph Dixon and Alpha Loutence Clewis Etheridge.
Final rites will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, June 6 at Peacock’s Chapel In The Pines by the Reverends Olease Boyd, Irvin Etheridge, and Leroy Long. Interment will follow in Peacock’s Columbus Memorial Park Cemetery. Peacocks Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

CHADBOURN Mary Nobles, 78, died Saturday, June 3, 2006 at her home. She was the daughter of the late Bradley Devon Nobles and Annie White Nobles.

WHITEVILLE Cynthia Gail McDaniel, 45, died Sunday, June 4, 2006. She was born June 6, 1960 in Columbus County.

She is survived by two sons, Markus Kyle McDaniel and Jason McDaniel; her mother, Ann Simmons Cartrette of Whiteville; her father, Thurston C. Pierce of Greensboro; and a sister, Debbie Boyette of Whiteville.

TABOR CITY John “Pete” Cartrette, 73, died Saturday, June 3, 2006 at Medical University of South Carolina. He was the son of the late William Hedley Cartrette and Pearl Soles Cartrette.
He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of the Korean War.

CHADBOURN Carolyn Ann Smith, 67, died Saturday, June 3, 2006. She was born Aug. 31, 1938 in Columbus County, the daughter of the late Lacy Palmer Suggs Sr. and Mazie Lee Suggs.
She was a lifetime member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
Final rites will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 7, 2006 at Old Zion Wesleyan Church by the Rev. Billy Roy. Interment will follow in the Old Zion Wesleyan Church Cemetery. Peacocks Chapel In The Pines of Whiteville is handling the arrangements.
Survivors include her husband, Donald L. Smith; four brothers, James Otis Suggs of St. Petersburg, Fla., Lacy Palmer Suggs Jr. of Chadbourn, Robert Edward Suggs and Thomas Wayne Suggs, both of Tabor City; five sisters, Elouise Payne of Smithfield, Va., Verniece Bell Shaw of Chadbourn, Lou Floy Harrelson of Whiteville, Hilda Shaw and Maggie Lundy, both of Chadbourn.

WHITEVILLE Ann Wood Bright, 64, died Friday, June 2, 2006 at Columbus Regional Healthcare.
Bright was born May 29, 1942 in Dunn and was the daughter of the late Robert and Marie Merritt. She was a member of Whiteville First Baptist Church.
Final rites were held Monday, June 5 at Whiteville First Baptist Church with the Rev. Kendell Cameron Jr. officiating. Burial followed in Whiteville Memorial Cemetery. McKenzie Mortuary of Whiteville handled the arrangements.
Survivors include her husband, Keith Bright of Whiteville; a daughter, Traci Bright of Whiteville; a sister, Bobbi Merritt McKinney of Dallas, Texas.

TABOR CITY James Ervin Dixon, 41, died June 1, 2006. He was the son of Clara R. Dixon and the late John Dixon.
Final rites will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, June 5 at Westside Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Billy Bellamy officiating. Burial will follow in the Bristol Creek Cemetery. Westside Funeral Home of Tabor City is handling the arrangements.

DEWEY C. HINSON
HIGH POINT Dewey Clyde Hinson, 80, died Sunday, June 4, 2006 at High Point Regional Health System. He was born Dec. 30, 1925 in Columbus County the son of the late James and Eastie Cribb Hinson.
Hinson was an employee of Curt Manufacturing Co. retiring in 1989 after 37 years of service. He was a member of the Junior Order Lodge and was member of Uwharrie Baptist Church. On Sept. 15, 1953 he married Ethel Mae Long Hinson who survives of the home.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Beaverdam Freewill Baptist Church by the Reverends Jackie Godwin and Thomas Lackey. Burial will follow in the Hinson family cemetery. Sechrest Funeral Service of Archdale is handling the arrangements.
Survivors include his son, Butch Hinson of Trinity; a sister, Edith McPherson of Beaverdam; three brothers, Cleon Hinson and wife, Reba of Beaverdam; Wilbert Hinson of Archdale and Carl Hinson and wife, Irene of High Point; two grandsons and a great-grandson. He was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Keith Hinson.
The family will receive friends Monday, June 5 from 6-8 p.m. at Sechrest Funeral Service, 120 Trindale Rd., Archdale and at other times at 502 Player Dr., High Point.
