Banquet honors Whiteville High athletes

Whiteville High School held its 2006 athletic awards banquet on May 25.

Major award winners follow:

FOOTBALL – Harrison Jordan (Most Valuable Offensive Player), D.J. Anders (Most Valuable Defensive Player), Jerrod McKinney (Most Valuable Back), Kevin Gamble (Most Valuable Lineman), Ethan Scott (Don Smith Team-Before-Self Award).

GIRL TENNIS – Michelle Turner (Most Valuable), Katie Bastug and Sarah Stanaland (Outstanding Doubles Team), Kelly Love (Most Improved), Nicole Land (Coach’s Award).

VOLLEYBALL – Megan Storms (Most Valuable Player/Spiker), Emily Cole (Leading Blocker), Samantha Smith (Coach’s Award).

BOYS SOCCER – Zack Maultsby (Most Valuable), Noah Godwin (Best Defense), Alex Hooks (Most Improved), Sergio Beltran (Sportsmanship).

BOYS BASKETBALL – Marcel Williams (Most Valuable), D.J. Anders (Most Improved), Chris Grant (Coach’s Award), Harrison Jordan (Don Smith Award).

Whiteville won conference championships in girls basketball and baseball during the 2005-06 school year.
