WHS to tangle with Lady Jags in Saturday’s East title game

The Whiteville High Lady Wolfpack, now sporting a 25-0 record following Tuesday’s 59-40 semi-final win over First Flight, will go after the Eastern N.C. 2A Regional basketball championship Saturday when it takes on the Farmville Central Lady Jaguars Saturday at 1 p.m., at the Rose High School gym in Greenville.

Farmville Central put its season record at 24-3 after defeating Eastern Guilford 71-57 in the Tuesday’s semi-final play.

Farmville Central, which is just a short drive from Rose High, is paced by N.C. State University signee Megan Zullo. Zullo scored 17 points in Tuesday’s win as she helped pace a balanced Lady Jag attack. LaShonna Shannon had 19 points, followed by Crystal Smith with 14 and Kim Zullo with 12.

The winner of Saturday’s game will advance to take on the Western N.C. winner in the state 2A championship game on Saturday, March 11, at N.C. State’s Reynolds Coliseum.
