| Lady Gators grab win over Hoggard LAKE WACCAMAW - A two-run triple by Caitlin Lane in the bottom of the sixth inning was the big blow for the East Columbus Lady Gators Thursday in their 4-2 come-from-behind victory over the visiting Wilmington Hoggard Lady Vikings. Coach Larry Williamson’s ECHS squad put its record at 6-0 with the win over the 4A Hoggard team. Lane also had a double for East Columbus, which collected a total of nine hits. Kayla McLean also tripled for ECHS while Lane and Amanda Thompson each had a double. Jena Britt was the winning pitcher as Hoggard had eight hits. Hoggard led 2-1 after four innings before East Columbus tied the score with a run in the fifth. East Columbus will open Waccamaw 1A-2A Conference play Tuesday against Whiteville. |
