Coach Ricky Young’s West Columbus team posted a 12-1 victory to put its season record at 7-0. Whiteville slipped to 2-5 with the loss to equal the number of regular-season losses it had all of last season. West Columbus will open Southeastern 1A-2A Conference play on Tuesday at when it travels to meet Fairmont. Whiteville will step into Waccamaw 1A-2A Conference play Tuesday when it journeys to Lake Waccamaw to take on East Columbus. South Columbus will entertain North Brunswick in its Waccamaw Conference opener on Tuesday. All three games are scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
