Three county teams
to play Saturday at
Pelican Stadium

The Waccamaw Academy, East Columbus and West Columbus baseball teams will compete in games at Myrtle Beach’s Pelican Stadium Saturday.

Waccamaw Academy will take on North Brunswick in the 10 a.m., opener.

At 4 p.m., East Columbus will square off with Andrews, S.C., followed by a match-up between West Columbus and St. James, S.C.

The high-school games are part of the pre-season promotional program of the Myrtle Beach Pelicans baseball team, a minor-league affiliate of the Atlanta Braves.

Pelican Stadium, located adjacent to Broadway at the Beach, is regarded as one of the most attractive minor-league baseball venues in America.

Advance tickets are on sale at participating schools. The cost of each advance ticket will include a ticket to a regular-season Myrtle Beach Pelicans game during the 2006 season.
