| McCallum cops 3rd consecutive All-State honor Whiteville High senior Shannon McCallum, the most prolific girls basketball player in school history, has been selected to the NCpreps.com 2A First Team for the third consecutive year. McCallum, the school’s all-time leading scorer, helped pace Coach Keith Jordan’s Lady Wolfpack to 90 victories during the past four seasons, including a 25-1 record in her senior season. The WHS girls fell to eventual state 2A champion Farmville Central 68-63 in overtime in the Eastern N.C. title game at Greenville. The 5-foot-10 McCallum, whose younger sister Paige is a rising junior on the Lady Wolfpack squad, signed to play for the University of South Carolina in November. She also played on the victorious North Carolina All-Star squad in last week’s Carolinas Classic at Rock Hill, S.C. McCallum is joined on he NCpreps.com 2A All-State First Team by Megan Zullo of Farmville Central, Cetera DeGraffenreid of Smoky Mountain, Ashley Watkins of Salisbury and Amber Wall of Eastern Guilford. |
