Waccamaw Academy, fueled by a third-inning grand-slam home run by Justin Rhodes, defeated the visiting Fayetteville team 8-5. The Warriors, now holding a 2-1 record, are scheduled to play Harrells Christian Academy today at 3:30 at Harrells. Coach Robbie Allen’s Waccamaw Academy Warriors have won the past three NCISAA state 1A baseball championships and have won nine state titles since 1989.
