Cougars rally
past Gators 5-4

BOILING SPRING LAKES - Kenny Lewis’ solo home run in the bottom of the fifth inning supplied the difference Tuesday night as the South Brunswick Cougars rallied to a 5-4 Waccamaw 1A-2A Conference baseball victory over the visiting East Columbus Gators.
The result left both teams with 4-7 conference records.

East Columbus took a 2-0 lead in the first inning and extended it to 4-0 in the fourth. South Brunswick rallied to tie the score with four runs in the bottom of the fourth, and Lewis smacked his game-deciding home run in the fifth.

East Columbus managed only four hits off Cougar pitcher K. Randolph. The win gave the Cougars a sweep of the Gators in conference play.

Coach Karl Bracey’s ECHS squad can wrap up the conference’s state 1A playoff berth with a win over visiting Trask tonight.
