Chris Harris smashed two doubles to pace Whiteville High’s 13-hit attack in Tuesday’s Waccamaw 1A-2A Conference baseball victory over visiting Heide Trask at Legion Stadium.

Lefthander Zack Spivey was the winning pitcher for the Wolfpack, which put its conference record at 9-1 and season mark at 13-10. Sprandon Mahoney pitched the final two innings.

Lloyd Enzor, Cameron White, Alex Hooks and Quan Gaddy added two hits each for the Wolfpack, which scored six runs in the fourth inning. Enzor and Robbie Penny had doubles.

Harris drove in four runs for Whiteville, which also got hits by Mahoney and Scott Stephens.

Trask was held to three hits, including a double by Justin Norman. Curt Hanline was the losing pitcher for Trask, whose conference record fell to 3-6.

“It was a pretty good effort,” said WHS coach Brett Harwood, whose team has an open date Friday before closing out regular season play next week with games against North Brunswick and South Columbus. “We have two very tough games ahead of us, so we just need to show up ready to play. We’ve had a couple of rough spots this season, but we’re a young team and our kids have continued to work very hard.”

The victory assured Whiteville of a winning season record for the 24th time in 26 years.
