Vikes shut out
East Bladen

ELIZABETHTOWN – The West Columbus Vikings moved to within a game of a second straight 20-win season Tuesday night by shutting out the host East Bladen Eagles 6-0 in a Southeastern 1A Conference baseball game.

John David White was the winning pitcher and Ryan McCleney pitched the final inning as East Bladen was held to one hit.

McCleney had three hits for Coach Ricky Young’s Vikings, who are now 9-1 in conference play and 19-2 overall. White, Brown, Zack Andrews, Brett Godwin and Chason Ford also had hits.

Dom Whittington was the losing pitcher for East Bladen.

The Vikings hold a one-game lead over St. Pauls in the league standings following St. Pauls’ loss to South Robeson.

The Vikings had fallen to Red Springs by a 1-0 score last Friday for their only conference setback

West Columbus, which last year posted a 21-6 record and won the Waccamaw 2A Conference championship, will play host to South Robeson tonight at 7.
