| Stallions ease past Cougars By DAN BISER VINEGAR HILL Sophomore righthander Garrett Bullock made his presence known in a big way for the South Columbus Stallions Friday night. Bullock pitched a two-hitter and drove in four runs with a triple and a single in the Stallions’ 12-2 Waccamaw Conference baseball victory over the visiting South Brunswick Cougars. The game was halted in the fifth inning by the 10-run rule as South Columbus put its conference record at 9-1. Coach Willie Gore’s Stallions are tied with Whiteville for first place in the conference standings heading into the final week of regular-season play. Their season record stands at 16-5. South Columbus took a 2-0 lead in the first inning on a two-run single by Bullock and brought across six runs in the second when it sent 11 batters to the plate. Jeremy Harrelson drove in two runs while Justin Creech, Charlie Gore and Blake Spivey added RBI singles.. South Columbus put the game away in the bottom of the fifth inning on a lead-off homer by Donovan Watts, Bullock’s two-run triple and a bases-loaded game-ending single by Gore. Creech had three hits while Bullock, Watts, Harrelson and Gore each had two hits. Spivey, Landon Simmons and Buster James each had one hit. Kenny Lewis was the losing pitcher for South Brunswick, which slipped to 3-7 in the conference and 7-14 overall. South Columbus will travel to play Trask Tuesday while South Brunswick hosts East Columbus. Both games will begin at 7 p.m. Lewis and Weatherwax; Bullock and Piver, Creech (4), Piver (5).
