| Lab report awaited before any charges in triple homicide
• Evidence from Dessie Road, Chadbourn, crime scene is being processed by SBI lab. Sheriff’s detectives hope confirmation will lead to warrants in 2005 case. By BOB HIGH Sheriff’s detectives are awaiting laboratory results from a 2005 triple homicide being processed by the State Bureau of Investigation before obtaining warrants for three counts of murder. “We’ve had some of the evidence at varying stages of the investigation, and we are hopeful the lab results will confirm what we already know,” said Detective Capt. Bobby Benton. Ivery Dennis Inman, 40, his wife Regina Renee Dossie Inman, 33, and her brother, Anthony “Goofy” Martin, 35, were found in the early morning hours of Nov. 5, 2005, shot to death inside the Inman home along Dessie Road south of Chadbourn. Benton wouldn’t be specific as to the type of evidence being processed at the SBI’s Raleigh lab. He said it could be DNA, ballistics, fingerprints, and fiber or hair evidence. “I just don’t want to be specific at this point. We’re just waiting to see what the lab report shows before we report what we have,” Benton noted. Benton declared, “A good many people have come forward with information in the case. We know there are others who have knowledge of this crime, and it would be in their best interests to contact us and let us know what they know.” It is suspected the triple murders were the result of a robbery, but Benton did not wish to confirm the motive. The three Chadbourn deaths was the second triple homicide in Columbus County history. The first happened on May 30, 1997 when three Hispanic farm workers were killed by shotguns outside a Nakina mobile home. Cecilio Cordoba, 38, his son Emilio Alvardo Cordoba, 15, and Virgilio Serrano Espinoza, 27, were gunned down during a birthday party. Warrants were issued for two Hispanic males who are believed to have fled to Mexico. There has been no report of the two men since the murders. |
