NR’s office division to change hands

The News Reporter’s office supply division on Dec. 1 will become a part of the Herald Office Systems of Dillon, S.C.

The office supply division will close its doors Thursday afternoon and reopen Friday morning under the Herald Office Systems’ flag. There will be little change in personnel as Diane Rouse, Connie Wells, Greg Batten, and Mike Thompson will be set to serve former and present customers of The News Reporter.

The new hours have been set 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday through Friday with a new phone number (910) 640-5551. The present fax number will remain (910) 642-6304.

“Herald is a family owned business and through the efforts of Thomas Jordan the firm has grown and prospered,” noted President James C. High of The News Reporter Company Inc.

“The firm is service-oriented and will bring to this area a wider group of products and through its buying power savings to customers. Orders placed locally, or placed online, will be trucked to the Whiteville location overnight for next-day delivery. The firm has the ability to handle small and the very largest business requirements, including general printing, office supplies, furniture, instant copies and computer supplies.

“It has been our pleasure to have served area customers in a small way for a long time. There comes a time when hard decisions have to be made and we believe Herald will make it convenient, and serve this area from a local site, and be a part of our community. This will give us a chance to focus more on our newspaper core business.”
