HATARI LANCE ‘SHORTY’ BALDWIN
PARKTON Hatari Lance “Shorty” Baldwin, 28, died Sunday, Oct. 15, 2006, at Duke Medical Center, Durham.
Final rites were held Saturday, Oct. 21, at Hatcher’s Chapel AME Zion Church in Parkton with Dr. Thurman McGougan officiating. Burial followed in Rockfish Memorial Park in Fayetteville.
Survivors include his mother, Dorothy Baldwin Wilkerson of Parkton; his father, Ezell Hicks of Hallsboro; stepfather, William Wilkerson of Parkton; three daughters, Imani Chacon, DaeSha Baldwin, and Tamaya Cromartie, all of Parkton; two sisters, Sabrina Pridgen of Hallsboro, and Domonquie Dalaine of Bolton; two brothers, Andre Baldwin of Rennert, and Travon Hicks of Hallsboro; his maternal grandmother, Etta Bookert of Clairton, Pa.; and paternal grandmother, Mae N. Hicks of Washington, D.C.
LORIS, S.C. Geraldine C. Mincey, 86, died Friday, Oct. 20, 2006 in Martenez, Ga. She is the widow of Kirby Mincey, and the daughter of the late William Franklin Cox and Cora Belle Edge Cox. She is preceded in death by a son, Willard K. Mincey.
Final rites were held Monday, Oct. 23 at the Inman Funeral Home Chapel in Tabor City. Burial followed in the Forest Lawn Cemetery. Inman Funeral Home of Tabor City handled the arrangements.
Survivors include two daughters, Sylvia M. Cooler of Austell, Ga., and Wanda Faye Rowe of Evans, Ga.; two sisters, Norma C. Rabon and Ouida Smith, both of Loris, S.C.; eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
WHITEVILLE Joyce Ann Bethea Samuel, 50, died Thursday, Oct. 19, 2006, at Columbus Regional Healthcare.
Final rites will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25 at Great Apostolic of The Apostles in Whiteville. Smith Funeral Home of Whiteville is handling the arrangements.
Survivors include her husband, Joseph Samuel of Chadbourn; five sisters, Willa Mae Bethea of Lumberton, Mary Louise Turnage, Cynthia Ann Bethea and Deloris Bethea, all of Whiteville, Catherine Bethea-Sparks of Brooklyn, N.Y.
Viewing will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 24 from 1-7 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to services at the church.
WHITEVILLE Annie Moore, 88, died Saturday, Oct. 21, 2006 at Shoreland Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.
Arrangements will be announced by Peoples Funeral Home of Whiteville.
DELCO Angela “Angie” Faye Jacobs, 23, died Saturday, Oct. 21, 2006. She was born in Columbus County Nov. 8, 1982. She was employed with Max-Lube of Whiteville.
Final rites will be held at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24 at Life Changing Church by the Rev. Priscilla Jacobs. Interment will follow in the Champion Cemetery. Peacock’s Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
Survivors inclue her mother, Janice F. Gore Carroll and stepfather, Dewey of Delco; father, Michael Johnson and stepmother, Tammy of Bolton; three sons, Christopher, Cameron, and Cory Jacobs, all of Bolton; a brother, Michael Dewayne Johnson and wife, Heather of Bolton; paternal grandmother, Carolyn Jacobs of Bolton; paternal grandfather, Reuben Johnson of Stedman; a niece and nephew. She was preceded in death by maternal grandmother, Louella Gore; maternal grandfather, Arnold Gore and step-grandfather, Russell Jacobs.
The family will receive friends Monday (tonight) from 7-8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
WHITEVILLE -- Mary Magdalene Gore Todd, 85, of Whiteville died at Bladen County Hospital, Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2006. She was the widow of Joseph Albert Todd and the daughter of the late William Henry and Amanda Catherine Beck Gore.
Graveside services were held Thursday, Oct. 19, at Columbus Memorial Park, Whiteville with Reverend Billy Roy officiating. Worthington Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
She is survived by a daughter, Nellie Todd Garrell of Whiteville; a son, Joseph Bryant Todd of Yuma, Arizona; a sister, Betty Fisher of Whiteville; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
CERRO GORDO -- Eula Coleman Hayes, 83, died Friday, Oct. 20, 2006 at Columbus Regional Healthcare System, Whiteville.
She was the widow of Dewey W. Hayes and the daughter of the late Jesse Seymoure and Frances Soles Coleman.
Final rites will be held 3 P.M. Monday (today) at Worthington Funeral Home with Rev. Elmore Strickland officiating. Interment will follow in the Cherry Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
She is survived by daughters, Polly Soles of Cerro Gordo and Susan Meade of Whiteville; sons, Ronnie Dwayne Hayes of Manhattan, Kans., James Jackson Anderson Jr. of Tucson, AZ, and Larry Brown; six grandchildren; six great-grand-children.
LELAND -- Mrs. Rosa Lee Crawford Hayes, 69, of Brunswick Cove Nursing Home, and formerly of Columbus County died Friday, Oct. 20, 2006 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center, Wilmington.
She was the widow of Pershon Alonzo Hayes.
Graveside services were held Monday, Oct. 23, at the Blackman Cemetery, Nakina with the Rev. Bill NcNeil officiating. Worthington Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
She is survived by a daughter, Sherry A. Cox of Orrum; sons, William Hayes of Whiteville, Ricky Hayes of Supply, Johnny Hayes of Lumberton, Danny Hayes of Oklahoma City, Okla.; brothers, Jerry Dale Crawford of Chadbourn and George Smith of Cerro Gordo; and five grandchildren.
