Last call for
one-stop vote

One-stop voting continues through Saturday. Voters would be smart to take advantage while they can in order to avoid lines on Election Day, Nov. 7.

Local interest has been unusually high for this mid-term general election. While there is no presidential nor governor’s race, campaigns have been in high gear for the county commissioner race; plus, several people are running for school board seats. The district attorney’s race is expected to be close, and R.C. Soles Jr., and Bill Fairley are in a heated race for the District 8 Senate seat.

The Columbus County Board of Elections reports that more than 100 people are voting each day at the Board of Election headquarters and at five other sites around the county.

The final day of one-stop voting is Saturday, where residents can vote until 1 p.m. at election headquarters.

One-stop voting is also known as no-excuse voting, and there really is no excuse for the well-informed voter to miss casting a ballot in this important election.
