PEMBROKE – Ian Hooks scored two goals Thursday as the Whiteville High boys soccer team posted its first win of the season with a 4-1 decision over host Purnell Swett.

Zack Stanley and Franco Rizzo also scored goals for Mike Buckpitt’s Wolfpack as it put its season record at 1-2. Stanley and Josh Kramer had assists.

Goalkeeper Josh Butler had 15 saves.

“This was our first win of the season and it was a good effort,” said Buckpitt following his team’s win over the 4A squad. “Our guys played together as a team and I’m very proud of them.”

Whiteville will open conference play today at 4 p.m., when it takes on North Brunswick at Leland.
