Dudley Revels, now in his fifth year as a faculty member and coach at Whiteville High School, was named WHS girls varsity basketball coach at Monday night’s meeting of the Whiteville Board of Education.

Revels has been head girls softball coach and a football assistant coach since coming to WHS in 2002. He has also served as junior varsity girls basketball coach.

Revels replaces Keith Jordan, who had coached the WHS girls team for five seasons. During Jordan’s tenure, the Lady Wolfpack compiled a record of 97 wins and 28 losses.

Laverne Ward will remain as varsity girls assistant coach and Lang Kinlaw will coach the WHS JV girls team.

Whiteville also has a new varsity boys basketball coach in Tyrone Frink, who accepted the position last summer after newly assigned head coach Kenzil McCall relinquished the position to fulfill Army Reserve obligations.

McCall had been named to replace 27-year WHS head coach Glenn McKoy following McKoy’s retirement at the end of last season.
