Lady Viking tennis
West Columbus High tennis players Lauren Strickland (left) and Jami Britt compete in last Thursday’s non-conference match with South Columbus at the WCHS courts. The unbeaten South Columbus squad defeated the Lady Vikings 6-3 (see story on 2B). The West Columbus squad of Coach Jeff Kinlaw is enjoying one of its best seasons ever this fall as the Lady Vikings are holding down second place in the current Southeastern 1A-2A Conference standings and are expected to make a good showing in this fall’s state 1A post-season play. The only WCHS loss in conference play came against Fairmont by a 5-4 score. “Our girls tennis program has come a long way in just the past two seasons,” Kinlaw said. “They’ve really worked hard and it has started to pay off.”
