Trask 13-3

LAKE WACCAMAW - The East Columbus Gators made amends for an earlier 4-2 Waccamaw Conference loss to Heide Trask Tuesday night by bouncing the visiting Titans 13-3.

The game was halted in the fifth inning by the 10-run rule.

The Gators jumped to a 4-1 first-inning lead and finished off the game with four runs in the fifth inning.

Winning pitcher Chad Malpass allowed four hits while striking out seven batters for Coach Karl Bracey’s Gators.

Forrest Steed had a big night at the plate for the Gators, going 3-for-3 for with a double.

Alex Sasser, playing in his first game of season after coming off knee surgery, went 2-for-2 with a double.

Caleb Andrews knocked a triple and Allen Bracey contributed a double.

The win put the Gator record at 3-4 in conference and 7-8 overall.

East Columbus, which played host to Topsail Wednesday night in a non-conference game, will entertain Whiteville Friday night at 7.
